Hard Revolution by George Pelecanos

George Pelecanos is a top notch crime writer with several series to his credit. Hard Revolution is a prequel to his widely read Derek Strange novels. in the earlier novels, Derek Strange is a middle-aged black private investigator in Washington, DC. In Hard Revolution, he is a rookie cop in 1968 dealing with the political and civil unrest surrounding the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King.

And if the chaos of the streets of Washington weren't enough, he has a number of family and personal problems to deal with. Pelecanos conjures up a very real world with a very real character who must answer to his own conscious as well as his supervisor on the force and the violence in the streets.

If you like crime fiction and haven't discovered Pelecanos, please start with any of his exciting books.
