Black Widow by Randy Wayne White

Randy Wayne White's long string of Doc Ford thrillers have been topping the best seller lists for years. And for good reason. White's prose is clean, his characters engaging and his plots non-stop action. In Black Widow, Doc finds himself delivering a ransom for his blackmailed goddaughter. Things go from bad to worse and a simple blackmail plot turns out to be something far more sinister and dangerous.
While the story begins in Doc's beloved Sanibel Island lab, most of the action takes place in the Caribbean and features one of the most frightening evil queens you'll meet in fiction.
This book, and all of the Doc Ford books, are great beach reads.
