The Road to Cana is the second book in Anne Rice's Christ the Lord series. The novels approach the life of Jesus from Jesus' own perspective, showing him to be both truly human and truly Divine. This creates an interesting story, using the details of the Bible to bring a well-rounded character to life.
While Rice's approach is reverent and respectful, I couldn't keep her creepy vampire books out of my head while reading this book. Rice was the the avant-garde of the current wave of popular vampire books with her series beginning with Interview with the Vampire.
The Christ the Lord series has very little in common with Rice's earlier books, except for being well written and interesting. So do try to shake the vampires out of your head and look at this series fresh!
