Dark Voyage by Alan Furst

You may not be familiar with Alan Furst, but his novels of World War II are excellent in terms of atmosphere and plotting. His characters are true to life and interesting. He should be more popular!

In Dark Voyage, Furst tells the story of a Dutch freighter which undertakes several covert missions in the early stages of WWII. She travels in disguise through German waters delivering men and materials at great risk to ship and crew.

The story is exciting, the characters are realistic and the atmosphere is very well written. If you like WWII espionage, you will enjoy this book.
