The Mix and Match Color Guide to Annuals and Perennials by Graham Strong and Alan Toogood

The Mix and Match Color Guide to Annuals and Perennials is a beautiful book, filled with great color photographs and brief descriptions of plants for the home garden. Its unusual presentation brings a fresh approach to gardening. The main section of the book is a large selection of plants presented in groups by height. What is different is that each section is 1/4th of the page and turns independently from the others. This arrangement allows you to plan arrangements for your flower borders mixing and matching colors, textures and other factors on the pages. The book begins with some background information followed by fold-out pages featuring some recommended mixtures of plants. Then comes the meat of the book--the mix-and-match individual descriptions and photographs on the partial pages. This is a great book for the begining gardener looking for a place to start as well as for the experienced one looking for fresh compisitions for their yards.
