Sizzling Sixteen by Janet Evanovich

Stephanie Plum has bumbled through many books (seventeen is on the way), each one funnier and faster moving than the last. Sizzling Sixteen is a laugh out loud funny tale featuring all of the usual characters and bringing back one of my favorites, Mooner.
Stephanie's sleezy boss, Vinnie, is kidnapped and held for ransom by the bookie Vinnie owes an awful lot of money. Despite a great temptation to let the mob keep Vinnie, Stephanie, office manager Connie and "file clerk" Lula attempt to rescue Vinnie and also raise the million or so dollars Vinnie owes. Along the way, they find themselves in and out of trouble, including what has to be the first cattle stampede in Trenton NJ.
While a steady diet of Stephanie's escapades might grow tiresome, I absolutely love reading these books when I need a good laugh. Sometimes I think Evanovich is who Mississippi Sweet Potato Queen Jill Conner Browne would be if she were born in working class New Jersey.
