The Somnambulist by Jonathan Barnes

The Somnambulist is a mysterious and very dark vision of Victorian London. Barnes first novel is a wonderful pastiche of of Conan Doyle, Edgar Allen Poe and Stan Lee. The quirky characters move through atmospheric streets and rooms that seem as much movie sets as real places. While the book is written in traditional novel form, it reads like a graphic novel.

I really can't describe the story without giving away too much, so you'll just have to discover it for yourself. The reviews in the library's catalog will tell you more, but you really need to read it for yourself.
