Bude Public Library

Our adventures last week took us to Starkville, home of the beautiful campus of Mississippi State University. The students there seemed to have spring fever--the quad was filled and the library was empty! MSU has one of the great libraries, well worth a visit. Starkville's downtown is also a treasure. It is vibrant and exciting with a good mix of businesses, including an old fashioned luxury hotel. Restaurants provide all types of food from burgers and beer to sushi to white tablecloth fine dining. I realize that the university is a big factor in making Starkville so exciting, but all Mississippi small towns should aspire to Starkville's success.
And speaking of small town treasures, if you haven't visited the Bude Public Library lately, you should stop by! The Town of Bude and the staff of the Regional Library have combined forces to refresh and renew the library, polishing up the great resource it always was. This is one library where it is o.k. to talk out loud--as long as you're talking to the library's cockateel. In addition to the traditional books and other resources, the library also has public access computers and free wireless service. Children are especially welcome to select books from the expanded children's collection. Stop by the library and check it out!
